Centre for advanced researcH


The Centre for Advanced Research (CARe) was established in 2013 in response to calls by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Chancellor of UBD at the 25th UBD Convocation Ceremony. In his Titah, His Majesty highlighted the crucial roles the Centre will play with regard to developing impactful research on national issues, as well as to building international recognition for the university.


To be a centre of excellence in conducting impactful empirical research on social issues for the
nation and for humanity


To develop research and data resources that address social issues in Brunei
To be a platform for local and international interdisciplinary research collaboration
To provide professional training to graduate students, university staff and researchers from various sectors

Research Clusters
