Community Diagnosis workshop, Kyoto University (14-19 March 2024)
Dr Hanif Abdul Rahman attended the Community Diagnosis workshop at Kyoto University from 14-19 March 2024, representing Universiti Brunei Darussalam Centre of Advanced Research (CARe) and PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences (PAPRSB IHS). The workshop presented step-by-step procedures for conducting community needs assessment for older people, setting priorities, mapping geographical areas where specific needs are required, and implementing community-initiated activities for healthy active ageing. Community diagnosis success stories were shared from the Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study (JAGES). To better prepare for the rapidly ageing society in Brunei, the implementation of similar initiatives was proposed and discussed with area experts from the Ministry of Health Brunei, Kyoto University, Niigata University, and representatives from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
This is one of the many initiatives the center, under its research cluster of Ageing and Well-being, is involved in to support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – Good Health and Well-being, as well as other related SDGs.
